IoT Security Threats Statistics in Uganda (2026)

Uganda's IoT ecosystem is rapidly expanding, with over 4.2 million connected devices anticipated in 2026. However, the rise in IoT devices brings significant security challenges, as approximately 62% are expected to have vulnerabilities. Cybercriminals are increasingly targeting IoT networks, leading to an estimated 1 breach per month, which can cost businesses around $32,000 USD each time. The government is investing heavily in cybersecurity to mitigate these risks, with a budget of approximately 150 billion UGX.

The growing number of IoT devices in Uganda highlights the need for stronger security measures. While the government is enhancing cybersecurity infrastructure, the high vulnerability rate indicates a substantial risk for both private and public sectors.
