By 2026, Uganda has seen significant growth in AI adoption, with over 3,200 businesses integrating AI solutions across various sectors such as agriculture, finance, and healthcare. The total investment in AI projects has reached approximately USD 45 million, indicating increasing regional interest and government support for digital innovation. AI's contribution to Uganda’s GDP is estimated at nearly 2.8%, reflecting its rising importance in the national economy.
The country now hosts 15 dedicated AI research centers, fostering local talent and innovation. Employment within the AI and machine learning sector has expanded to about 8,500 professionals, showing strong growth in high-tech job opportunities. Continued investments and strategic initiatives are expected to further boost Uganda’s AI ecosystem and digital competitiveness by 2026.
