Despite economic growth, the Republic of Congo faces a significant cybersecurity workforce gap, with only 480 specialists available for an increasingly digital economy. The rising number of cyber incidents, totaling around 3,200 annually, underscores the urgent need for investment in cybersecurity infrastructure and training. The government has allocated approximately USD 15 million to bolster cybersecurity efforts, but the workforce remains insufficient to meet current threats.
Internet penetration is still developing at 32%, limiting digital access but also exposing vulnerabilities as online activity grows. The average cost per data breach stands at USD 38,500, reflecting the financial impact of cyber attacks on businesses and government. Strengthening workforce capacity and investing in digital security are crucial to safeguarding Congo’s digital future and economic stability.
