Ethiopia's cybersecurity workforce has grown significantly, reaching approximately 4,500 professionals by 2026. This expansion reflects increased government focus and investment in digital security infrastructure, aiming to protect critical sectors from rising cyber threats. The cybersecurity budget has also increased to around USD 15 million, supporting talent development and technological upgrades across key industries.
Despite improvements, Ethiopia still reports over 3,200 cybersecurity incidents annually, emphasizing the need for more robust defenses. The majority of organizations—about 65%—have adopted cybersecurity policies, showing progress in corporate security awareness. The proliferation of over 120 training programs indicates a strategic push to develop local expertise and combat cybercrime effectively.
