Armenia has seen a significant rise in ransomware attacks in 2026, with over 1,200 incidents reported. Despite this, the country has improved its cybersecurity defenses, with a 78% success rate in mitigating attacks, thanks to increased investments and awareness. The average ransom paid remains around $25,000, reflecting the financial impact on both businesses and government entities, which continue to upgrade their security infrastructure.
The Armenian government and private sector have allocated approximately 1.2 billion AMD towards cybersecurity initiatives this year. However, the rise in ransomware-related data breaches indicates persistent vulnerabilities. Continued emphasis on cybersecurity training, improved threat detection, and international cooperation are critical to reducing future attacks and safeguarding Armenia’s digital landscape.
